macOS Player: Release Candidate Version

The new, upcoming version of our macOS player app (2.10.x) has a wide range of new features, bug fixes and improvements including the added ability to set proxy settings from inside the app and support for ScreenCloud Studio, the all-new version of ScreenCloud's digital signage software.

We will be releasing this version of our macOS player app for all of our users soon, but are making it available now as a Release Candidate version for anyone who wants to test it on their devices and for users who are part of the Early Access Program for Studio.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to install or update to the new macOS player app on your macOS devices.

 

How to Install or Update to the New macOS Player App

1.1. In the browser on your device, go to this link to download the installation file.

1.2. When the download is complete, click on the downloaded file. When the installer opens, drag the ScreenCloud Player icon to the Applications folder to install or update the app. If you are updating the app and have the current version of the app open, you may get a "The operation can't be completed because the item 'ScreenCloud Player' is in use, and you will need to close to app to continue and then select "Replace" when installing to replace the current version of the app. After you finish the installation, open the app to run it.

 

Currently Unsupported Features

Version 2.10.2 of our macOS player app currently lacks support for some features in ScreenCloud Studio, notably offline mode. If your device's internet connection drops, you may experience a black screen. Offline mode will be supported in a future version of our macOS player app and is only missing from this release candidate version.
