How to Set Up ScreenCloud on a Chrome Device With Google Chrome Device Management

by Nor Kanjanahattakij

Hello and thank you for visiting our ScreenCloud Help Center. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to set up ScreenCloud’s digital signage software using a Chrome player on a Chrome device with Google chrome device management (kiosk mode).

All Chrome devices now require Chrome Device Management License (CDM) to run ScreenCloud in Kiosk mode. You can purchase this through our partner Promevo (US & Canada only). Please contact us for reference to our global Google partners. If you do not have an Enterprise Kiosk License, ScreenCloud player will simply work like a Chrome extension in a desktop mode. There are some performance issues when running in this mode and most importantly, it will not support auto-start capability.

PLEASE NOTE: Single App Kiosk is not recommended as it does not allow you to exit the kiosk mode and adjust User Settings on the device. We recommend purchasing an Enterprise License as this gives you the option to exit Kiosk Mode on your Chrome devices and have access to extended features.
Chrome devices which can run ScreenCloud player in Kiosk mode are as follows;
  • Chromebit
  • Chromebox
  • Chromebook

You can also review the benefits of having a Chrome Device Manamgent license here.

There are three parts to this guide. If you already have the license, you can choose to enroll the device (Part 3) first and then set up the app in the console (Part 2), whichever way you feel convenient. The following steps will show you the Chrome Device Management set up first, followed by the enrolment steps.
Table of Contents:
Part 1: Purchase a license for chrome device management
How to purchase the license:
1.1. The manual way from Google Admin Console (you will need to have a basic understanding of how Google G Suite works)
  • You can choose to start the subscription from a trial (up to 10 devices allowed)

  • Purchase Chrome Enterprise without trial (Annual subscription only)
1.2. The recommended way
We recommend you contact Promevo our Google reseller who can assist you with setting up Chrome Device Management and advise you on which type of license you should purchase (ie. perpetual or annual). You will need to provide a domain on G-Suite for the licenses to be applied to. It may take between 2-5 days to complete the enrollment process.
