Chrome devices (except Chromecast)
Most content is cached and stored in media cache so if the device goes offline the content will still be played until the connection is back, in which ScreenCloud will then fetch and show the new data. There are a few apps that do not cache such as streaming content like Youtube, Vimeo, and Live news. They will be skipped and play what's next on the playlist.
In the event of power failure, the device will reboot and restart Screencloud automatically.
Amazon devices / Android box / Android TV
Most content is also cached and stored in media cache and will continue to play, but will not refresh with new data. Streaming content will be skipped and play the next content on the playlist.
Some devices do not fully support rebooting in offline mode yet due to hardware and OS capability. So if there's a power failure and both Internet and your device went off, you may see the screen with a message "Waiting for internet connection" until the internet is back online then ScreenCloud will start again.
Which apps will not work offline?
Please note, the following apps do not support offline mode or cache. They will be skipped and play what's next on the playlist:
- Google Slides
- Live News
- YouTube Live
